Engineering and Geospatial Electrification Design and Analysis

The geospatial and information systems team was established in Dhaka in the early 2000s supports virtually all NRECA International projects since. Led by senior staff in headquarters, plus project directors located in different countries, the team has successfully overseen primary data collection for national and local electric systems and preparation of geospatial electrification planning and analysis platforms. These platforms are used for electrification expansion planning, and in recent years also play key roles in national level expansion planning. The team supports business systems deployed for small and medium-sized distribution systems in Haiti, Central America and Sub-Saharan Africa. We also develop design guidelines and construction standards, material specifications and procurement programs for low cost on-grid and mini-grid power systems, and has employed those standards to construct robust and economical networks. Our experience in developing isolated systems gives us deep expertise in distributed generation systems.
