NRECA International supported economic transformation in rural Ghana, with projects to support the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), an institution that plays a key role in the economic viability in a vast area of Northern Ghana. To help NEDCo establish institutional and financial sustainability, the NRECA International team helped establish irrigated farming hubs that could significantly increase crop yields and allow subsistence farmers to dramatically increase revenues. The team also supported efforts to dramatically improve revenue recovery, loss reduction and improve management of NEDCo facilities, leading the way for extending electric service to two irrigation hubs in Northern Ghana.
