The NRECA International Foundation relies heavily on volunteers to go overseas and provide training, technical assistance, and teach new skills that will enable a better economic future, using the power of electricity. Previous assignments have included:
- Linemen to help build distribution systems and house wiring projects, and provide continual training to local crews.
- Co-op managers have provided training to the local board of directors of the co-ops.
- Engineers have provided extansive substation training and evaluated damaged line after natural disasters.
Once an opportunity has been identified, the Foundation will make all the arrangements for the volunteers (such as travel arrangements, visa applications, etc.). The Foundation also provides the volunteer with traveler’s insurance and worker’s comp policy (medical insurance is the individual’s responsibility). A typical assignment lasts between two-three weeks.
All you need is your passport and willingness to go!
