Volunteer Programs

It is people to people that really make a difference.

When people care, they can make great things can happen. The NRECA Foundation volunteers show their caring by taking action and going overseas to help. They have made a positive impact in the lives of many, by bringing power to the village and hope to generations of men, women and children.

Take for example the Georgia volunteer linemen that have traveled to Ixcan, Guatemala.

In 2008 Georgia electric cooperatives partnered with the NRECA International Foundation to send volunteer linemen to Ixcan, Guatemala. Their goals were to connect isolated communities to the national grid, as well as to improve the safety and reliability of electricity for those already with service. After many hours of hard work and several trips, to date over 1,300 residents of Ixcan are now benefitting from the dedication of the Georgia volunteers who continue to return every year.

As you will see in this video not only do the residents of Ixcan benefit, but this trip has an incredible impact on the volunteers themselves.

Volunteering is not only about the great experiences of traveling overseas (to sometimes remote and rural areas). It is about making lasting impressions by the good work we accomplish as we electrify the world, one village at a time.
